Console and PC Launch

On 4 September 2026 QubicGames published Fortress Merge on Steam, Xbox (One, Series, Play Anywhere), and PlayStation (PS4 and PS5). The developer credit is TapNation with Tartatin. The game is free to play with optional in-app packs. This is not a Roblox title and not a paid $70 boxed release. Mobile players already knew the loop; this page is the store-shelf version.

Platforms and saves

  • Steam: Windows 10, full controller support, Steam Cloud, 23 achievements, family sharing, in-app purchases.
  • Xbox: Xbox One, Series, PC via Play Anywhere, cloud saves, achievements.
  • PlayStation: PS4 and PS5, 24 trophies including Platinum according to launch coverage.
  • Mobile: iOS and Android, still live, larger hero and building lists in some patches.

Saves do not magically jump from a phone onto Steam. Link the mobile account for phone-to-phone protection; use Steam Cloud or Xbox cloud on those platforms. See how to redeem if you were looking for a code box that the launch HUD does not show.

What the store page promises

Merge matching buildings, stall with barricades, shoot with turrets, spawn knights, horsemen, archers, and mages, park three unique heroes, fight skeletons, slimes, dragons, giants, and bosses, and run three challenge modes (Grand Battle, Boss Fight, Hero Battle). Maps change obstacles and lane shape. Some art is flagged as AI-assisted on Steam’s disclosure line.

Minimum PC spec from Steam: Windows 10, AMD FX-8320 3.5 GHz, 8 GB RAM, GTX 950, 1 GB disk. That is a light install. Handheld Xbox and Steam Deck status was still “unknown” on the store page at launch — expect full controller use either way. Controls maps buttons.

Money, DLC, and trophies

The base game is free. Steam listed a Claire pack and several gem or cosmetic item-store rows. Xbox listed a Strong Start pack. PlayStation coverage said the platinum should not require a paywall. Optional no-ads and skip-ticket SKUs exist on mobile; console stores may fold those into different names. None of these are gift codes.

Achievements on Steam include flavour titles such as Merge Master, Collector, and Hero Of The Village. They track play, not a promo string.

Languages

Steam interface languages include English, French, German, Spanish (Spain), Czech, Finnish, Korean, Portuguese (Portugal), Russian, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. This wiki covers English, French, German, and Spanish — the mainstream set minus Chinese and Russian, which we do not ship.

What to play first after install

Install, skip the urge to hunt codes, run getting started, then placement. If you already cleared mobile, jump to challenge modes and confirm the three-hero roster instead of waiting for Jeanne.

Who this launch is for

If you bounced off mobile ads, the console build is the same puzzle with a pad and a bigger screen. The merge rules did not change. Walls still want the lane. Camps still should not all collapse into one sprite. What changed is the store shelf: trophies, Play Anywhere, a Claire pack, and a spec sheet that fits a 2016 GPU.

If you are brand new, ignore DLC for a week. Clear ten-wave maps. Then look at challenge modes. The platinum and the 23 Steam achievements will happen while you learn the board; they are not a separate game.

Handheld players (Xbox handheld, future Steam Deck verification) should expect the same drag HUD, not a rebuilt touch layout. Controls is the page to keep open until R1 and R2 feel obvious.

Family Sharing on Steam means a household can take turns on the same library copy. It does not clone gem wallets across accounts. Each Steam user still has their own in-run gold and their own optional purchases. Treat that as a feature, not a way to share a Claire pack.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Is Fortress Merge free on Steam?

Yes. Optional packs exist. The campaign is playable without them.

Does it support a controller?

Yes. Steam lists full controller support and recommends a gamepad. Mouse-only is also listed.

Can I carry my mobile save to Xbox?

Not automatically. Treat console and mobile as separate progress unless an official linker appears.
