Fortress Merge Heroes
One fighter on the board. Fund the skill, the boost, and the gear — not a zoo.
Every Fortress Merge fight lets you park one hero on the grid. That hero brings three things: personal stats, a combat skill, and a permanent boost that still helps when they are not swinging. Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation launched on 4 September 2026 with three unique heroes. Mobile has a longer roster — a starter knight, mid-campaign unlocks such as Jeanne, later names like Esmeralda and Undertaker, plus paid packs such as Claire on Steam’s DLC shelf.
This hub is the index. Heroes is the roster and playstyle split. Gear is the fuse-and-set rule that punishes people who upgrade the wrong boots.
How a hero actually plays
Place them like a unit, not like a wall. Melee heroes sit just behind the barricade so the skill hits the clump. Ranged or support heroes sit a row deeper. If they stand on the spawn pixel they eat the boss slam; if they stand next to the castle they never see the fight. Placement covers the tile; this hub covers the identity.
Press the combat skill on boss waves, not on wave 2 slimes. The permanent boost (damage to a family, cooldown, HP) should match the buildings you already committed to. A horseman-boost hero on a mage board is a wasted permanent.
Steam three vs mobile many
If you are on the September 2026 console or PC build, pick among the three shipped heroes and ignore mobile unlocks you do not own. If you are on iOS or Android, do not spend blueprints on the starter after a better fighter unlocks — and do not spend them before that unlock if the swap is coming. Mobile players often hold hero shards until Jeanne-type unlocks appear around the mid campaign, because gear upgrades do not undo.
Paid packs (Paladin, Heaven gear, Claire) are optional. They do not replace a wall. Buy them after you know which name you will main.
What this hub will not do
We will not invent skill numbers we have not seen on a HUD. We will not pretend a Roblox-style trading plaza exists. We will not rank twenty unreleased skins. For buildings and units go to the tier list. For the first fight go to getting started.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
How many heroes can I place?
One per fight. Extra unlocked heroes wait in the lobby.

Steam advertises three unique heroes at launch. Mobile has additional unlocks and event names.
Should I upgrade every hero a little?
No. Blueprints do not undo. Fund one name, then read the gear guide before fusing.
